Network Solutions is particularly pleased to announce that its Senior Vice President of Policy and Ethics,
Jonathon Nevett, has been appointed to join the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Online Safety and Technology Working Group.
The NTIA’s Online Safety and Technology Working Group was established pursuant to the Internet child safety initiative the “Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act.” It will report to the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and to Congress on industry efforts to promote and preserve child safety on the Web.
“We are happy to be part of the push to make the Internet a safer resource for children,” said Mr. Nevett. “Because the Web is a vital and growing place that can greatly increase learning, it is important that surfing the Web be a safe and rewarding experience for children.”
As the Internet becomes more central to American life, it has become vital to help parents understand both the benefits and concerns from their children’s use of the Web and to ensure that they have the appropriate tools to respond. This working group will help the President’s administration and Congress achieve this goal by providing the information and recommendations needed to make informed decisions. The working group will directly advance efforts to ensure the safety and privacy of children as they explore the Web.
