Hi All!

I have uploaded a sliced header, with 6 slices. The top slice is 975px wide. The other 5 slices were placed underneath the top slice with no spaces in between the slices so they align vertically with the top slice. When I hit 'Save" and the page refreshes the bottom five slices are separated with a space in between each and do not align with the top slice.

I have made sure there is no border.

Any ideas on how to keep the five slices butted next to each other so they align with the top slice?

Your help is appreciated!

Hey jimw3961...I looked at your site and I am not seeing the issue you describe?

If you have the problem (?) you describe above, try defining padding and spacing in each cell as "0" (that would be zero).

Without seeing the issue, it's tough to diagnose.

Thanks for taking a look. I am working on the Header on a test site design and not my live site. These are the steps I have taken;
1/ Open WYSIWYG editor & Align Center
2/Paste slice #1
3/Hit shift+return
4/Paste slice #2
5/Place the cursor at the right edge of slice #2 and paste slice #3
6/Place the cursor at the right edge of slice #3 and paste slice #4
7/Place the cursor at the right edge of slice #4 and paste slice #5
8/Place the cursor at the right edge of slice #5 and paste slice #6

At this point all looks good. Just like it should. Slices 2,3,4,5,6 lined up with the edges of slice #1

I then hit "Save" and when the page reloads there is a thin line between slices 2,3,4,5,6.

No padding,no borders.
Thank you again for looking.

Can you email it all to me? martiniguy@martiniart.com (the html and files)

>>You might want to define the size of each table cell to match the size of each image

>>FYI - Are you using the "built in WYSIWYG" ? I never use the WYSIWYG editor - I use Dreamweaver. The built in WYSIWYG is problematic.

>>Did you check your default CSS file to see if there is any padding or cell spacing declared?

Speaking with SEO and browsers in mind, it would be much better if you converted this to html/css rather than slicing images. I used to slice the header, and got much better results and consistency simply creating everything through css/html.

Just a thought.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. Can you tell me how slices effect SEO. I would really like to know.

Best Wishes!

***UPDATE***

I was finally able to accomplish this. Support (2 separate calls and CSRs)had no clue whatsoever so I kept plugging along on my own.

When placing the first slice (graphic) make sure you put zeros in all of the "Spacing" boxes. Even though they are initially empty I guess the default is to leave 1 or 2 pixels spacing.

Hit "Shift-Return"

Keep doing that for all slices (images).

I finished the Header and then tackled another page. You can check it out here; Your Greatest Protection - Safety Article Library

Hope this helps somebody else so they do not have to spend hours trying to place images that butt against each other.
