After uploading photos, some of the thumbnails are way too big and it's making the products page look all out of whack.

I've gone into gallery/image manager/set the thumb to 50 and it's still displaying too large.

I want all the thumbnails to be approximately the same size to keep the products page lined up correctly.

I thought this was done automatically.

How can I fix this?

Hi annamc,

On the product details page this uses the product detail image and not thumbnail image. On product lists like categories, related products and product specials those will display the thumbnail.

What you can do is set a default width for the image though in Operations >> Settings. This will display it at that width to keep the aspect ratio of the image. Otherwise if you want to use the thumbnail image you can go to Design >> Product Layout Design and set your template to draw out the products thumbnail instead of the detail image.

It's the default height that I actually need to be the same. The thumbnails are all showing at 150px width which works ok. It's the height that's all different and it causes the "more info" button to be at various heights. I just want it to all be lined up. Any way to tweak the default height? The shopping cart resize function resizes by the width and not the height. The only way to get the height the same would be to use an image editing program on your own computer.

I am having a similar problem. Sometimes I need the width to be 150 and other times I need the height to be 150. Some of my images are "tall" and some are "wide" so my pages are a mess. I was excited about this automatic resizing feature at first, but I think it still needs tweaking... like some sort of "constrain" option. Don't make wider than 150 or taller than 150, etc.

When uploading the images individually, using the Image Manager, you can constrain both the width and height to the same value. If you enter, for example, 150 for both then the max height or width will not exceed 150 and it will retain the aspect ratio.

I hope that helps, but if you have additional suggestions I'll pass them on to our user interface people.

Just set make it so we can set the parameters to limit the height or width of the main image when resized to a thumbnail.

I know it is not easy, but the basic work around for this is to make sure all your original images are cropped square.
