I put in the 2 lbs 4oz for the weight option for the product and used the United States Parcel post option.

The value returned was wrong. The shipping charge was GREATER than the Priority Mail option for the same weight and much more than the value shown on the www.usps.com website.

No % or $ profit was entered. The base value was incorrect. (IMG:http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Often times parcel post will be slightly more than Priority Depending on the zone & weight.

If you run some hypethicals for various areas you will find more regions this applies to.
My wife is a ex-postal employee , and mentioned usps has been pushing for the growth of priority mail for some time now ; this especially applies to regions that have similiar service ( delivery) times .

Hopefully my rambling is of some help.

Not alot of logic from usps in this regard.

Just my $ .02

Hi gleep,

One way that you can test the pricing is to simply go to USPS.com.
By calculating the rates on their site you will get the same that your site does. Make sure though that your zip codes are correct and that you have everything set the way it is in your admin panel. If you are using a special account or anything like that, this will give you different rates. Also your packaging type needs to be a package, not a letter. Also the size of the package if you did specify this will affect your rates, we do not specify this yet.

I went to www.usps.com and entered zip codes from 83843 Moscow, Idaho (my shipper) to Woodland Park, CO 80863 (me) and entered the package weight of 2lbs and 4 oz ( my typical weight) and package (NOT large package). usps.com returned the parcel post shipping rate of $6.94. This is correct.

When I activated the parcel post shipping option and put in 83843 for origin and 80863 as the customer and 2 lbs and 4oz for the weight network solutions returns $10.64 for parcel post. But the usps.com value is $6.94 for a small package AND $6.94 for a large 14X14X14 inch package.

BUT Network solutions returns $10.64. There is NO Add on charge.

So the network solutions shipping for a parcel post package for 2 lb and 4 oz returns an INCORRECT postage for the two zip codes above.

Please see if this is correct.

You will see that underneath the Parcel Post option for USPS there is a link for additional charges may be required. If you click on this link and choose yes you will see the new returned rate does come out to be 10.64. This is the rate that they return to us through the API. I have logged a known issue to allow a setting under the shipping manager to allow this option to be selected or not. At this time we do not have a resolution or a timeframe on if or when that setting will be implemented.

OK. I found out what the error was.

The Postage API actually works correctly!!! (IMG:http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

One product had BOTH weight and dimensions.

Putting this product with 12"X12"X12" and a weight of 2lbs and 9 oz returned an incorrect postage value.

What you NEED TO DO is only set the weight, and zero out the dimensions.

Then it seems to work.

This works in certain circumstances. Typically, the only time you need dimensions is when you need real-time rates to return dimensional weight.
