I have been researching with paypal how to program around the paypal express option that we only have with our shopping cart.

Network Solutions told PayPal that this shopping cart is a PayPal Compatible Cart for "Website Payment Standard" & "Website Payment Pro".

There is html programming which can be added to the cart.

Here is the most recent reply from PayPal on the issue:

According to the information Network Solutions has provided to use for our Solutions Directory at https://www.paypal.com/en_US/html/Solutions...ry/sd_home.html, the cart can be integrated with both Website Payments Standard and Website Payments Pro.

I would suggest checking with them again to see how you would add those options to the checkout.

Again, NetSol, can you please address this?
Removing the Paypal express button on one page is not the solution we are looking for.
We only want a payment button for paypal on the payment page.

I am awaiting information from PayPal about adding a payment button to the payment page of the shopping cart.

Hope to soon have information from PayPal about how integrate Payment Data Transfer (PDT) and Instant Payment Notification (IPN).

YES!!! PLEASE NS, give us a way out of PayPal Express! Actually, I have no problem with PayPal Express IF AND ONLY IF we don't have to have ANY buttons except a normal-sized one at the time of payment, as is already on our sites.

Personally, I've been thinking of implementing PayPal like I used to before we started using MonsterCommerce -- I programmed the link to PayPal right into the payment page and the customer would log in, manually send us the money, and return to our page. I like the convenience of PayPal Express apparently notifying NS whether the payment is complete or pending, but I would give that up to get rid of their presence on pages other than on the payment page. I feel that I am being strong-armed by PayPal and I don't like it.

Here is the most recent update from PayPal regarding adding a "Pay Now" paypal button:

You would need to work with the cart provider to do some sort of scripting to populate the variables in the HTML form code for the Pay Now button.

Right now NS is telling us to check the PayPal Express interface routines when we configure the API in our PayPal account management. Obviously, if they were to use a different PayPal interface, they would have to use different API routines and we would need to check different boxes in the API list.

What would be much easier for everyone, I think, is if NS would give us custom payment options like they used to. It would only have to have a the ability to associate a link with an image, such as a link to PayPal with a PayPal payment button. We would not get all the bells and whistles that come with PayPal Express, but we would not be beating our customers over the head with checkout-with-PayPal buttons either.

I don't like that we can't set the names of the payment options (who needs a separate payment method for money orders -- why can't they be with checks like they used to be) and that we are restricted to what NS wants us to use. We are using this shopping cart so we don't have to write our own. The feeling I get with the new cart is that we are being shoehorned into deals NS made with payment gateways. Are all the carts out there squeezing their customers into their own deals like NS is now doing. I really, really hate this aspect of this new version.

I sent the following email to PayPal to try to get some help from them. If you want to send a similar email, the place to send it is customercare@paypal.com. If enough of us yell about this, maybe PayPal will get the obnoxious parts off our site.

QUOTE
We have been using PayPal for our business for over ten years. You will see that we do a significant amount of business via PayPal, on the order of $XX in 2007.

We use shopping cart software that used to be called MonsterCommerce and is now called Network Solutions. They recently installed a new rev of their product that only allows us to use PayPal Pro gateways or PayPal Express, not PayPal Standard. We already have a credit card processing gateway and are not interested in changing that, so that leaves us only PayPal Express as our PayPal option.

We are considering offering our customers only credit card and check options for payment because we object to the terms of service for PayPal Express. We don’t want PayPal buttons on our web site except at the point of payment in the checkout process. We particularly don’t want a button near every checkout button and the wording “Save time. Checkout securely. Pay without sharing your financial information.” We resent having wording on our site that we did not approve and we particularly resent having wording that implies that it is not safe using the normal checkout on our site.

Please notify Network Solutions immediately on how to get these obnoxious “features” off our web site or we will get PayPal off the site altogether. Please also notify us of the actions you are taking in response to this email.
