I see a mailing list was setup but confused as to how to have customers sign up for these mailers. Are the customers asked to sign up for these at checkout and if so are they automatically placed in the group or does it have to been done manually. Is there a mail to create something on the site to say join our mailing list and if they signup they are signed up? Cant figure out how to set this up. Any help would be appreciated

Lots of good progress in the 7.3 release, thanks folks....

It looks like sign-up for a mailing list happens at registration. I was hoping to use this feature as an opt-in for a newsletter though. I'm fairly certain that most people won't opt-in to a newsletter if they have to provide their full mailing address.

It would be a nice feature in a future release, to create an email list manager vs. snail mail.

Thanks,
DJ

Thanks DJ, I see it there now too. I too was hoping for something like what constant contact does. That is what I will continue to use for now. It is a good step for NetSOL.

After exploring the new form design feature in 7.3, I will be able to create a newletter opt-in. The list management will have to be done offline which isn't a big deal.

Thanks guys, great new feature!

How is this opt-in listed created. Meaning can someone just browsing my site add their info to be put on the newsletter list or do they actually have to register or become a customer to opt-in

You can setup an opt-in on the left-right column by going to design >> Site Design >> Columns. In here you will see a new module for mailing list. Add this module and your visitors will be able to enter just their email address and choose which mailing list they would like to be added too.
