I have been trying to use the Import/Export feature and have had some sucess and many many troubles. For example:

Yesterday I did a product export than turned right around to test the import and it was not able to import the same file it just exported. I did not even open the document or rename it.

Today I did a product export, opened the file in excel, formatted the cells so I could read what was in each one, adjusted variation quantities, prices and was able to import no problem. I did this with 2 products before I did it with 10. I just tried to now import my 10 products and it will not import. So I ran a test like yesterday and it will import the same file it just exported, but when I go into Excel and auto fit all the cells the import does not work.

Does anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

What's probably happening is the export is wrapping lines because of ASCII character for a carriage return being in one of your fields. The only way to correct this is to open the CSV in a text editor and manually rejoin the split lines.

Or you can call tech support after you upload the CSV to your File Manager. They can see a more detailed error as to why the CSV failed to import.

Thanks for the reply, we'll look into it more. Our recent import/exports have been working properly.

This has been happening to me for several months now. I can't upload more than 300 products at a time, and I can only do that half the time...

I just can't get someone to fix it...I have called many times

We have 2 computers with different versions of Excel on them. We found that we can use Microsoft Office Excel 2003 to edit our exports, but we that have to open them with Microsoft Office Excel 2007 save them and than they import no problem. Of course we can also use the 2007 version to edit. Maybe try the new version if you are using an old Excel.
