My client is a large online appliance store. They want a specific functionality on their new website. If they cannot get it they will likely go with another cart or a custom solution.
In each major appliance category (ie. Refrigerators, Dishwashers, Dryers, etc ), they want 3 to 4 drop down boxes to display in the content area each representing different options to search for. For example, on all Refrigerator pages, they want the following drop downs: Manufacturer, Color, Style. A user can select one or more of these and have the products below change based on their selection(s). Within another major category, these drop downs could be different.
With such a huge number of products and options, they do not want to rely on keyword searching and a deep category structure. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Everything else about the Pro cart is perfect for their needs.
Maybe there is a completely different way to go about accomplishing the same thing. We like this cart and would like to stay with it.
Thanks!
Hey smanderson16.
You can probably get this accomplished to "some degree" - but I doubt that this system is going to give you the precision (and access) you need to pull this off. Sounds like you'd probably need to develop (and operate) from a customized d-base that controls your product search.
What you might check into is a 3rd party search application/hosted service - that would likely be your best bet.
Good luck with it
