Hello,

The common wisdom is that inbound links help improve a web site's rankings in the search engines. However, there is a myth that runs through the online marketing community that certain inbound links can actually hurt the site's results. In other words, inbound links could be used maliciously (or accidentally) to lower a competitor's ranking. Skitzzo @ SEO Refugee attempts to revisit this myth and dispel it.

The premise of this myth is quite simple: that somehow links pointing at your site (also known as inbound links) can somehow hurt your rankings.
..
As I mentioned previously, Google has stated several times that there is almost nothing a competitor could do to affect your rankings.

Based on the variety of opinions on this issue, it's hard to know exactly what to do concerning an inbound linking strategy. Get help from the experts by checking out our Web Site Link Visibility service.

I hope this helps!
