I am setting up PayPal Website payments pro. I enabled it on the network solutions side.

On the PayPal side I have an activiated account that now has me at a step to do a "API Set-up" which "Authorize your website or ecommerce application to send payments to your PayPal account" It is a required step and has these questions to either setup a API username or request a new one.

"Enter API account username" then "Setup your API Access Level" checkboxes include "Direct Payment,Express checkout,reporting and back office apis, authorization and settlement".

What do I do here? I was assuming that was all setup????

Thanks

Hi rondkop,

For PayPal Website Payments Pro to work on your site you must also enable PayPal Express checkout. When you enable PayPal Express Checkout these settings are provided for you. They are the following:

1. Log into your PayPal account.
2. Click My Account Tab.
3. Click on the Profile Tab (on the right).
4. Under the Account Information column, you should see the API Access link, click on that link (if you do not see it then your account is not Premier or Business).
5. In the API Access page, click on the first link, "Grant API Access Authorization".
6. Click on the link below, "Custom API Authorization".
7. Parter API username needs to be "billing_api1.monstercommerce.com".
8. Select:
* SetExpressCheckout
* GetExpressCheckoutDetails
* DoExpressCheckoutPayment
* DoDirectPayment

9. Click "Submit".

Also note that if you want to be able to capture payments or refund from the Admin Panel there should be check boxes that have the words Capture or Refund in their name for Direct Payments.

Also note that our integration with PayPal is completed just that if you do not set these items they have no idea where to send info to or what type of paypal payment is being used. This is a limitation on their part.

Joe

Quick Note: We originally had problems with the set up because we didn't have the same e-mail addresses associated with our PayPal account and e-commerce accounts. When we corrected that everything worked fine.

Also... many of our customers are wholesale and use their own credit cards to pay for things required for where they work (where they might normally use purchase orders). PayPal has to be set to approve these types of sales where the billing address and shipping addresses do not match. Once we verify the correct shipping address through the customer and the shipping company there shouldn't be any problems. I'm sure if there was, PayPal would claim they are not liable!
