Ever since the update before last, when I export all products to a CSV file, the row alignment is thrown off by the long description HTML. Instead of the HTML code staying in a single cell, it instead takes up 10 or 20 rows per product. It appears that this only occurs with products whose descriptions have been added or changed since the update...which happens to be quite a few for our store.

Exporting the products this way is our only means of getting an accurate and complete look at our inventory levels...so this problem is causing major issues.

The "fix" offered by technical support is impractical as we have hundreds of items that this issue is affecting...and are unable to go through each one and place quotations around the html code.

Is anybody else having this issue? Is there a plan for a real fix?

Hi cwood8989,

This is a known issue with CSV's in general and this is caused by some sort of whitespace character that was generated from most likely copying and pasting the html code in from another editor. With our next release we will be stripping those characters as well as encapsulating everything in a CSV. In the mean time though the only work arounds that you can try are to encapsulate the HTML code, or to try and remove the white space characters with a find and replace with a tool like textpad.

The characters in question normally are characters like vertical tab. I am not sure if this is all of them but here are html equivalent replacements - http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/text.html

Thanks Joe. Could you provide an example of a search term and replacement that would be used when executing the find and replace in text pad?

This is something that we have run into as well, that while not a major deal its been a pain to work around it. Glad to hear it will be taken care of in the next update.
