Hello,

Trying to install a package writtent in php and using an mysql database when I reach a step I get this error

Database connection failed due to Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

Edit the database settings in /data/20/1/129/111/1944111/user/2121328/htdocs/install/index.php or contact your database provider

(DROP the old tables before restarting)

Are your server compatible with all kind of database ?

Best regards

Hi Jeremiah123,

If you are using the unix hosting platform we are compatible with MySQL but you will have to first create the db. To do this checkout http://www.networksolutions.com/support/ho...base-unix-only/

Then in the app you are using, odds are there is a configuration section for the db that you have to change such as the db location/host, username, pw, and db name.

HI Joe,

Many thank you for your fast reply. I did manage to create the mysql databse with nsolutions panel and everything went fine but as you say it is probably some manual editing which has to be done but where is not really mention except some numbers.

I'll try to study that index.php and let you know if it works.

Edit : I went trhough the file however from what I gather is that the file is not configurable by adding the db info manually has it does that through the install process so I guess I'll have to change web hosting. Any idea on how to delete an account with network solution ?

Best regards,

Wawat

PS : This is what the mysql manual has to say : The error (2002) Can't connect to ... normally means that there is no MySQL server running on the system or that you are using an incorrect Unix socket file name or TCP/IP port number when trying to connect to the server. You should also check that the TCP/IP port you are using has not been blocked by a firewall or port blocking service.

Hi Jeremiah123,

What are you trying to install? Either the install process of the app will ask for the db info or there will be a file that is called config.php or config.xml or something like that where you enter your info.

Hi Joe,

It does ask for the db name, user and password which I insert with the page install but the problem comes with the following after reaching the point of writing to the db I guess , here is the screen shot

(IMG:http://i34.tinypic.com/2ikt7nt.png)

Now what I am trying to do after restarting a fresh install is that I have edited the config.php and set the info for the localhost, db name , user and pass and will test again. If this matter is appearing it's probably due to a firewall from your server, note that I am implying that your engineers do not know their jobs as I am also working for a web hosting company in Switzerland, which with them this install went ok. Anyway, forgive my long discussion as I will try few again and as I say earlier on if this is not resolve I shall ask for a cancellation of this account as it will be of no use to me.

Edit : After some other tests the problem still persist so all I can say it that your server are blocking some file to install properly

Anyway, thanks for the test I just wasted my money by the window

Jeremiah

PS : Why when I chmod some required file to 0777 and I check again it goes back to default settings?

Hi Jeremiah,

For the host don't use local host, use the mysql host that is listed when you created the mysql db or or the dbs ip address that is listed in your account manager. That will resolve your problem.

HI Joe,

Again thanks for your answer , I shall try it and inform you if this work or not

Edit : Same problem and I change with a more robust web hosting for this is really "tabarnak"

this nsolution seems to be more a gadget than anything else

Best regards

Hi Jeremiah,

I would contact support as they will be able to tell you what your specific db host name is as I do not have access to this information. I have installed countless php apps on my hosting package with netsol with out any issues connecting to the mysql db and we have thousands of clients doing the same so your are probably just entering in the wrong information.

If you contact support though they will be able to tell you what your db host information is as they can access your account.

Jeremiah,

Here's a shot of the database manager in Account Manager:

(IMG:http://i35.tinypic.com/2v7za12.jpg)

Using the information specific to your database you would fill in the info in your config.php something like:

CODE
$db_name = 'develblog';
$db_host = 'mysqlv5';
$db_username = 'develblog';
$db_password = 'xxxxxxxxx';

I hope you find this helpful.

Regards,
Jon
