Network Solutions Forums _ Google Analytics _ Tracking Goals With Dynamic Pages

Posted by: recohen Dec 30 2007, 05:48 AM

I'm using Google Analytics, and I'd like to track the number of people dropping out of the order process at each stage of checkout. However, Google seems to be having trouble distinguishing between each step of the checkout process (I'm assuming it's because the pages are dynamic). Is there a way to make Google see each step of checkout as a separate page? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Ross

you can look at the shopping carts in the store and it will show all the incomplete carts and to what step they made it to. Not sure if thats what your looking for?

I figured it out - turns out you need an = sign on the end of the URL for google to recognize it. Thanks!

How did you get it to work?
When setting up the goal we now have the goal type -> Head Match
and the goal url -> checkout.aspx?complete=

for the funnel

Step 1 /checkout.aspx
Step 2 /checkout.aspx?step2=
Step 3 /checkout.aspx?step3=

In the analytics it shows a bunch going into the first step of the funnel, but none going to the second step. One of the exit links from the funnel is /checkout.aspx?step2= though...

Tried changing match type and checking and un-checking the required step check box, but have yet to get it working correctly.
