Network Solutions Forums _ General nsHosting™ Questions / Feedback _ I Finally Found The Forums!

Posted by: schrysco May 29 2009, 03:15 PM

Found a very helpful post via google on these forums, and just spent the last hour (i'm not kidding) trying to figure out how to register so I could post something. Tried searching the netsol website, no results. Looked on literally every page under help, customer service, etc., didn't find a single mention.

If I could make a suggestion, it might be a good idea to put a link to the forums under the Help & Support section?

In the very least, there should be some link other than the very teeny tiny one located under the account manager. When I finally found it I actually laughed out loud because it was so small and difficult to see.

Maybe you're trying to make it difficult for your users to find these forums so as to keep them from filling up too fast, but I imagine it might lessen your customer support load if people have a place where they can help each other out rather than having to contact support.

I'm very thankful these forums are here, and Duane seems to have offered a lot of really helpful comments. It's a shame more users aren't here to make use of this resource!

Hey schrysco...
There is a link to the forums under the "help and support" tab?

Are you on V7 Pro?

Schrysco, You forgot to detail how you finally found out how to register for the Network Solutions Forum. I tried using your direction and it got me no where so I finally had to call Netsol. Here is how to register:

* You have to have your web sites' manager acct (User ID & Password) and not just the editor's acct.
* Go to www.networksolutions.com (You can not get in from the editor account or the reg manager login)
* Login with your Manager Acct User ID and Password.
* Click nsCommerceSpace on the lower left part of the screen.
* Click Ecommerce Forums on the middle right part of the screen.
* Enter "Email Address" (Same as your manager acct email) & "Display Name" (Screen Name)
* Nelsol told me to look at my email so I can lock in but for some reason I was able to login without going to my email.
* Go to www.networsolutions.com again
* Lock in under Manager Acct User ID and Password and you should be able to post.

I've no idea why Netsol made the forum so complicated to register. Forum registration should have been bypasssed if you have the manager acct. All they should have needed is your Display Name (Screen Name). Using the appropriate terms would be less confusing too: Website Editor ID (vs User ID), Website Manager ID (vs User ID), Display Name (vs Screen Name in some places). Every time the screen ask for an input, I had to figure out what to type in.

Hi eddylin,

We provide a small registration form to make sure that you are aware of our Terms of Use and many people like to use a more personal email address instead of a corporate one for their subscriptions on the forums. That is why we allow you type in whatever email you would like.

Also coming soon we will be having these forums links for all products on Network Solutions account manager to go with the new product forums just added.

I wasted a lot of time trying to find a link on my Account Manager to register on this forum too. I finally sent Network Solutions®® an email and they responded:
...For security reasons, the forum registration is done through Account Manager. When you log into Account Manager and select a product that has a forum, like nsHosting, nsMail, or Website Builder, you will see a link for those forums. The first time you access a forum this way you are asked to register. Any time you enter a forum this way you will not need to re-enter your login information. If you have more than one account, make sure you access an account that contains a product with a forum.

It looks like a canned answer(?); I'm guessing I'm not the first to send that email. I'm posting this in case anyone reading the forum is having trouble registering too. I clicked on Website Builder Tool from the left menu, and there on the mid-upper right is the link for Website Builder Forums. Once it was explained, it was easy. But these links are so small and blend in so well with everything else that they can be difficult to spot. Personally, I think a website design that makes the user look all over the page for the various links isn't a good idea.
