When I used the install button from the "Open Source Applications" page the installer produced a site with 500 errors. Looking at the .htaccess file it generated:

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /preview/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /preview/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress
END WordPress

You can see that the last line is going to cause Apache to fail. Removing that last line made the site work again.

Thank you for the feedback. I will have our team check on the install process.
