Hmmm, two questions:

[*]What is the reasoning behind being consistent with link types? Why can't some be relative and some be absolute? I'm sure I have a mix.
[*]I was of the thought that were important, use absolute links because they might count towards SEO links by search engines. I've seen a lot of sites with all absolute linking and they all are high ranking sites.

Thanks

The philosophy behind this is that it creates a system wide unique standard for your coding so that way you won't have links that sometimes go to the wrong place. If you use relative links properly, we already have the proper redirects, robots.txt entries and other things added to the cart so you won't have to worry about any issues with the way the site works. Also if you use shared ssl and are not paying attention you might accidently create a link to the shared ssl path when you don't need to. Using a standard of one or the other gets you in the habbit of knowing what to check for to eliminate these mistakes.
