Hi,
Is there a way to do this scenario:

1) Customer signs up for newsletter
2) After signing up, customer is directed to a page with a 10% discount code as a reward for signing up.

I'd like to be able to mention something like "Sign up for sale announcements and get 10% off your first new order!".

But I would like to automate the process so that a customer does not have to wait for me to send them the code - they can get it immediately and shop now, without waiting for the code to be sent.

Any tips on doing this?
Chuck

I go through Constant Contact. You can have an email automatically sent to your customer after they sign up for the email and you can put a coupon code with a link right in the email.

One word of caution, industry experts will tell you that by rewarding a customer a discount to sign up you are lowering the quality of your email list and you increase the potential of spam.

i.e. The customer is not crazy about the newsletter but the 10% discount convinced him to sign, few month later the customer forgot why he signed up and he can report the e-mail as a SPAM

Constant contact allows only one SPAM per 1000 email, so beware of this tactic, 2 years ago we offered a free product with an order when a customer signed up. We had higher ratio of spam and constant contact put oue email list for review every time we sent an email. So my personal recomendation is to avoid this practice.

Nuriel - Good advice! How does Constant Contact become connected to the site? I have a "sign up for newsletter" email capture and use Constant Contact.
