QUOTE (agkits @ Jun 13 2009, 12:01 PM) Just found this.... I started to find it quite annoying when my mouse would skim over the button it would pop up. Adding this makes it so you have to click the button for it to pop up. (IMG: http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) Agkits, Where exactly did you place this code on the product layout page? I also found the pop up annoying and would like to make it a 1 click pop up.....tks Msuz.

I put it at the top of my product display editor... But I guess it really depends on where you have the add to any script. You can probably put it anywhere.

I just discovered that when using the AddtoAny script, it simply gives a link to my main domain, and not the page the the products are on. That is really the main point...to share key information (hence that specific page). Currently I have the code in my product template. To get it to link directly to that page, what would I do?
I am really hoping I don't need to actually insert it into the actual product description and rework that process...
Anyone have ideas or solutions?

Are you using it on a product page or the home page?
EDIT..
I'm smart. (sarcastic) I didn't see that last bit there... I'm going to check your site quick

Yeh something's not right... can you post the code you are using for the script. I shouldn't be doing that.

It would be fine if there was an <ns> script for the URL, but I am not seeing that...

Christianbooks, I checked mine and it works, I thing your problems is with the script
a2a_linkname="ChristianBooksBibles.com";a2a_linkurl="http://www.christianbooksbibles.com
MY SCRIPT
a2a_linkname=document.title;a2a_linkurl=location.href;
I think that your script point to a static page, you can copy my script if you need .
Also the website address in your profile has a SPACE between the . and the com (. com should be .com) so when I cut and paste it did not work

Thanks, that worked great. One question though. Has anyone been able to get the correct thumbnail to show? For example, when I try to use the facebook share, it gives me 5 thumbnail options, but none of them are relevent to the page. If you want to see what I am talking about, go to http://www.christianbooksbibles.com/agifto...0310289838.aspx and then try to use the addtoany app to post to facebook. I want the actual thumbnail for the product as an option, but it isn't one. Anyone have any ideas?

update...I still can't find an answer after searching the web. If anyone has succeeded in getting the right thumbnail, let me know. The best alternative I can find, is to simply upload a logo that can be used for the entire site (right now, it is selecting some featured product thumbnails in my right column).
To do this, I need to put a link to the image in the product layout template. While this is not optimal as it doesn't create the actual thumbnail of the product, at least there is some branding...
Anyone else have ideas?

QUOTE (Scooter @ Jul 21 2009, 03:15 PM) Hi, So (trying to recap on the origianl post) anyone has ideas/experiences about Social Media?... (IMG: http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Hey Scooter...let me officially welcome you to V7!!! Glad to have another old skool V4 grad move over! (this is Scooter, right? (IMG: http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) ) On another note (actually back to the original note) - we've been toying with the whole mess that is social media for quite a while and we are on the fence. Our resources have grown considerably over the past few years and we are still finding it tough to blog with any frequency (or relevency) - let alone Tw1ittering every 3 seconds, driving pals to F@c3book or Mysp@c3. According to 1/2 of the data - there are many that have monetized and are doing great...and according to the other 1/2 - the fad is going to pop. The upside right now is that the fire is being fanned by traditional media (CNN, network, newspapers...etc) and there are currently a ton of eyeballs on the big SM sites. If history has taught us anything though - the hype fizzles fast. If I had to bet - I would bet that there are still eyeballs to win over for the short term (18 to 24 months) - until the next big wave passes through or the honeymoon ends. Kinda like when MTV used to play music videos. The party always seems to end. (IMG: http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/martiniemoticon.gif)

We have the www.addthis.com on all of our product pages. I made a twitter for us and updated it pretty regularly. I have not yet advertised it on our website. My hesitation is that we only have 24 followers right now. Some of our competitors have 100+, 100s, even 1,000s. Do you think it's worth linking to our twitter on our website, or will we look pathetic?

Do you think it's worth linking to our twitter on our website, or will we look pathetic? See my previous post. I personally think that if you work it like mad and really build your following - it could give you a bit of extra traffic or linkjuice. We did a focus group earlier in the year and the overwhelming concensus amoung the participants (computer savvy, regular ecom shoppers, frequent internet users in our general target customer age range) was: "Yeah, we took a look at Tvvitter because L@rry King was pushing it so hard - who cares what someone has to say every minute?" The concesus about FB and MS was that anything "sales oriented" or marketing speak devalued a company and seemed obvious and spammy...unless it was simply a banner ad. The prefered an outright sales pitch rather than a sales pitch disguised as content. I am sure there are 100000 different opinions - these are just the ones we received. Regardless, if you can get eyeballs, it might be worth the effort. We've gone a different route...for example, press releases seem to be a benefit to us. Best of luck.

Anyone else have ideas? I have looked high and low for the answer.... and tried a bunch of code myself in attempts to create a dynamic link for the product image thumbnail. If I am understanding you correctly you want something like this to actually work... CODE <link rel="image_src" href="%productthumb%"/> So when facebook pops up the image used is generated from the code to pull the thumbnail of the product. The above code obviously doesn't work... but you get the idea. All I kept coming up with was tons of people trying php, javascript etc to get it working with no luck. I even searched through Facebooks developers forums and still couldn't find the answer.

Yeah, I was disappointing that I couldn't find that...it seems like an image of the actual product would really help...
