We've been processing our merchant account through paypal for a number of years now (Auth.net before that) and switched to paypal because they had offered us a flat rate across the board for all cards processed (incl. AMEX)

We just got word AMEX fees will go up to 3.5% for all merchant processed transactions through paypal beginning Oct 25, 2010. Are any of you seeing this as well? This is a huge increase for us, our margins are tight enough as it is.

What if any other merchant processors do you recommend, and what do they charge for AMEX? Paypal is telling us it has nothing to do with them, it's purely an AMEX change and it's across the board with every merchant processor.

Any thoughts will be appreciated,
Msuz.

Look for all the credit cards to increase their rates to merchants since the new credit card laws have taken effect for consumers. They will limit their losses by ripping off the merchants. look for more service charges and higher processing fee's in the very near future. You ain't seen nuthin yet!
