Are you on v7? I am wondering if it is because in v7's checkout, step 2 is "Shipping & Coupons", and there is an area for entering coupon code. I know when I shop online, when I see a couple code area, I always stop completing the transaction, and try to search or hunt for the coupon code. I really, really don't like this on the v7 checkout cart, and I am very disappointed that this can not be removed. I already logged a suggestion for Netsol to remove and make this code optional in their next release. This is an area of concern for me in v7.
