I recently changed two of my goals in google analytics and am having some problems as it isn't capturing the data correctly.

One problem I believe, is that it tells you to put the relative path...so, for example, if I am just doing a simple step-based goal it would seem to look like this...

Match Type: Exact Match

Goal URL :/checkout.aspx?complete

Step 1: /checkout.aspx
Step 2: /checkout.aspx?step-2
Step 3: /checkout.aspx?step-3

However, this scenario isn't generating any results except for the actual goal (none of the steps are being shown as gone through).

I am little confused because somewhere there has to be some unique session/user identifiers in the URL. I think the absense of these is because when you go into checkout mode, the URL switches from http to https....would that be the problem. I would put https, but it clearly states to use relative paths...

Can anyone help out?

I have the exact scheme setup and I am having the same problem and have posted it in the "Google Analytics" section of this forum and have yet to receive any information as to why this is not working. Also, my G Anaylitcs is not tracking my Google Adwords anymore and the Adwords conversion tracking code that I placed in page 4 of the checkout page is not working.

Netsol can you please help us with this? It is critical for our businesses to receive this info in order for us to make good marketing decisions. Below are two posts from this week that have not been addressed yet, except for the usual "we are not aware of any problems in this area".

Christianbooksbibles,

I'm researching this issue, but have a question, first.

Were the goals tracking properly before you made the changes to them?

And One more question, what do you have as your match type in your goal settings?

Match Type: Exact Match

Yes, they were working properly. However, we changed the goal a little bit...

Now it seems like Google Analytics isn't getting data at all!

All this info was in my initial post...

Goal URL :/checkout.aspx?complete

(the below were for the funnel)

Step 1: /checkout.aspx
Step 2: /checkout.aspx?step-2
Step 3: /checkout.aspx?step-3

Sorry, I was unclear if that was an example (that you pulled from somewhere else) or your actual data. I'm checking now.

While you're at it, can you check my site info, as well? It is the same one that Christianbooks is using. You totally disregarded my post. What's up with that?? Been having problems with getting Analytics Goal tracking and Adwords Conversion tracking for over a month now.

Tigger,

I wasn't trying to ignore you--just trying to deal with one issue at a time to see if there is a common theme. Since you'd posted a similar issue in a different thread, I responded there. Also ChristianBooksBibles' resolution should help you as well.

ChristianBooksBibles,
Try switching your settings from "exact match" to "head match". I put in a goal on my site earlier this morning and it's working like a charm. Here's a copy of my settings in case you want to copy them:

Thanks. I will try that. However, now it seems like none of my data is importing (reported on another
thread), so since the one will prevent any goals...I have to figure that one out before I test the goals...

If you can look into the other, that would be greatly appreciated.

You changed the goals, and this caused Analytics to stop collecting data, entirely?

No, that was earlier in the week. However, I had been posting in this forum about my content overlay not working. After searching on this for a long time, it seems like that is a problem for Google, as many other users were experiencing the problem and Google has said they are working on fixing it.

However, I thought that maybe, in attempts to try and fix the content overlay problem for me, someone from Network Solutions possibly re-configured something on this side of things, and that threw everything off (as this was being heavily discussed at the time when I stopped receiving data).

Obviously it isn't the goals that made me stop receiving data, so I am just trying to brainstorm what changed, and the NS changing something, is the only unaccounted variable that I can think of.

Any ideas? Analytics says that it is receiving data correctly. Below is a screenshot...(the default is supposed to be index.aspx correct?)

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that whatever you did, worked as the tracking started again yesterday sometime in the middle of the day.

Thanks!

Something is wrong with my funnels for conversion tracking, as it is stating that no one leaves when they enter the 2nd step of the checkout process. Even if the checkout is awesome, were are going to have some cart abandonment... Below are the details of the goal process

Match Type: Head Match
Final Destination: /checkout.aspx?complete
Step 1: /checkout.aspx
Step 2: /checkout.aspx?step-2
Step 3: /checkout.aspx?step-3

Anyone see what the problem could be?

Any new news on this? I am noticing that we have a 100% checkout rate after step one of the checkout, I know that this is incorrect. All I have to do is look at the abandoned shopping carts and many of them state leaving after step two, but Google analytics says that I have a 100% completion rate after step 1 has been completed.

Any help?
