I have been unable to find a way to add insurance based on the dollar amount of the sale to the shipping cost. Can anyone please advise on how to add insurance option to the order.

I have asked for this same feature in the feature request thread. It is definitely needed to protect the merchant and honestly I was surprised that it wasn't included in the software. Please NetSol we need an option in our shipping area to add insurance based on the order total....

You can view a little workaround we did on our site at www.universolaromas.com. Basically when you get to step 2 of checkout we have a table at the top with the option to add insurance to your order...It is not ideal but it's better than not having anything at all.

Add a surcharge on in the shipping section to at least help cover it. Its the law of averages charge all orders for it
some you are ahead some not BUT overall better than none.

As for the customer allowing to select it? Maybe not a good idea?
Most will not select it as they can dispute the cc if its gets lost or damaged and they know the merchant will need to solve it, so why would they option to add it and pay more?

We dont ship ANYTHING without declared insurance! If it gets lost or damaged you lose and customer is not happy either.
We have about 1-3 a week lost or damaged and at least with insurance we are covered.

Thanks for the responses but I think NETSOL needs to step in a make a viable solution here. It doesn't make sense that an insurance option cannot be added to the checkout stage. I have done research and most insurance is auto calculated based on the dollar amount of the item(s) in the cart. I have items on my site ranging from $10 to $10,000 and insurance is a must. NETSOL can you please give me some sort of time frame for a solution on this.
