This... This is big news from Google.

SearchWiki: make search your own

Today we're launching SearchWiki, a way for you to customize search by re-ranking, deleting, adding, and commenting on search results. With just a single click you can move the results you like to the top or add a new site. You can also write notes attached to a particular site and remove results that you don't feel belong. These modifications will be shown to you every time you do the same search in the future. SearchWiki is available to signed-in Google users. We store your changes in your Google Account. If you are wondering if you are signed in, you can always check by noting if your username appears in the upper right-hand side of the page.
Yes, you read that correctly. Google is allowing their users to rearrange their commonly used search results pages to put someone at the top or remove them altogether. They have already been showing customized search results based on a user's previous searches for some time now. But now, simple tools for rearranging their own result pages are in the hands of every Google Account. Will this have drastic effects on a site's general rankings? Will these settings affect the search results seen by other Google users? No (but just a little yes).

The changes you make only affect your own searches. But SearchWiki also is a great way to share your insights with other searchers. You can see how the community has collectively edited the search results by clicking on the "See all notes for this SearchWiki" link.
Also see the article on Cnet about Google SearchWiki. Found via SEOBook.com. They must be rolling this out slowly, because I don't see it in my search results as of yet.

I saw it for 2 days when it rolled but today it is gone. I was involved in forum post on Google about this functionality because I'm against people being able to leave any type of comments they want about a listing (my industry is very competitive and imagine competitors leaving disparaging remarks about others sites).

I don't think google search engine should evolve into this type of bookmarking / commenting application. It's just a matter of time I think before it is used to hurt other competitors who rank higher than others. I've spent a lot of money on SEO and would hate to see competitors inappropriately slam my business in order to influence searchers who find my site with my most popular ranking keyword.
