Hi -

I'm a new user, and am trying to set up QB to work with my Monster Commerce webstore. I've run the wizard (that I downloaded from the MC site) and keep getting the error "Quickbooks not detected. You must install QB....." Needless to say, QB IS installed, but for some reason the wizard cannot see it.

Is there a manual way to set this up?

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Many thanks!

Hi hepperhome.com,

What that means then is the installation of your QuickBooks is some how corrupted or not installed properly. Really the best thing that I can recommend is to reinstall QuickBooks on top of itself, or if you run the installer and if there is a repair option, you might want to try that as well.

Thanks Joe. I did uninstall and re-install QB, but will try your suggestion now.

Joe -

I just did another install on top of the old QB, and still nothing... anything else to try?

I know this *shouldn't* be an issue, but FYI I am running QB on a MacBook Pro, both with Parallels and also as a direct boot into XP.

Any other suggestions?

many thanks,

Jed

Hi Jed,

The only thing that I can think of is that when we try to run the install of our integration we first install the webconnector if that is not installed. If you do not have this installed and it is not prompting for that you can get it from this site - http://marketplace.intuit.com/webconnector/webconnector.aspx

Then we try to sync up the Webconnector and QB to your site. So if you have the webconnector installed, then the only other thing that I can think of is maybe it is due to running XP on a Mac. Basically any installation software when trying to find if an application is installed is it looks in the registry. I do know to make windows work on a Mac it does mess with the Windows registry quite a bit so this may be the cause.

Other than this though I cannot think of any other work arounds.

You might want to contact Intuits Support and see what they say about this if they have had any other users with similar issues when running Windows XP on a Mac.

This is coming a bit late, but I was able to get the problem fixed. It was actually quite simple and had nothing to do with the version of Quickbooks or a Mac. The Quickbooks company file did not have a default application setting for some reason. This was remedied by right-clicking on the file, choosing properties, and setting the default application to QB. Once that was done, the helper app worked fine.
