I just checked my google webmaster tools and found that they have overhauled the entire site. You can add another variation of your domain and submit a sitemap for that. It even has an entire section on sitemaps, including resources that will create them for you. Maybe this new change is the reason we were unable to see our site links. They are showing up there.

Were you checking the links in the old version and they just weren't showing up? This is really nice I like the new version.

No, I have Igoogle setup for my homepage and have the webmaster info on my homepage. The info on my homepage said "information unavailable" so i went to my webmaster account to see what was going on.

Yeh... I noticed the same thing a couple days ago. There were some modules that said no data available or something like that. Must have been them switching it over. Makes sense now.

Do take a look at this great resource. There is a section where they list what pages have duplicate titles, duplicate meta descriptions and ones that have short descriptions.

Also check for the pages not found and go to operations > page redirects and create new redirects. A lot of these will be links from forums that might have added extra characters to your url.

I have my googlebase auto updated at midnight on Thursdays and try to spend a little time every Friday morning on cleaning up whatever is listed in the webmaster tools. With a reduction in staff, this as been a tremendous help.

I am just learning my way around the NS backend, and I can't figure out how to add the custom meta tag that Google requires in order to verify that I have access to the site.

They want me to put: <meta name="verify-v1" content="1xUeYxU6R7+THVlzNiBrIS2OTKW0payqrdQhS8t68j0=" >
in the <head> section, but it seems like NS is generating that automatically, and all of the parts that it allows me to edit manually are in the <body>.

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. I'll keep poking around and post back if I figure it out later, but if someone can answer it super easily in the meantime, that would be awesome. (IMG:http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks.

Use the file upload verification method instead of the meta verification method
