Apparently Analytics is not working. I have entered the UA-XXXXXX number in the field. Is that all I have to do? I have done test checkout completed and have had real orders in the last few weeks since migration, and nothing is showing in Analytics.

I also have the code in my cart from the V4 store in the checkout area. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

DJ

What isn't working? Ecommerce conversions in GA or just plain traffic in GA?

We have not been able to get Google Adwords, nor Analytics to work from start to sale. We have the UA-xxxxxxx enabled and the code on all four check out pages as well as the confirmation page sent by our gateway provider. We are getting partial information so Google is 'seeing' the UA-xxxx and the sales. Unfortunately Google is reporting the sales are coming from our website and not associating sales with a keyword, forum, organic search, whatever. Thus, we still don't know what marketing/SEO efforts are resulting in sales. It's like there's a disconnect between the code on the checkout pages and the UA-xxxxxx code.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, Karol

If I were to guess, it is going to say sales are coming from your store as the checkout happens at xxxxxx.netsolstores.com I could be wrong though.

Karol and Sports,

I don't believe you are suppose to install any code for Google Analytics to work on your NetSOL cart. You simply insert your GA number in the field in the Settings area of the MCP.

The exception would be Custom made pages you might have on your site. That is pages not generated by the cart.

Took the code out that came over from the V4 cart. Will see if that works (IMG:http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I noticed that you were stating you put in the code UA-xxxxx into your cart. There should be another -xx on the end of that. Google Analytics has two different account numbers, one for your account as a whole and one for each individual Analytics profile. To get the correct account number login to your Analytics account and click edit>> check status. In here you will see the code for your site which will contain the correct Account number UA-xxxx-xx.

Hope this helps. I have also notified our tech writer to update the manual to include these steps.

Yes I have the UA-xxxx-xx number in the spot, I was just too lazy to count the places at the time of the post (IMG:http://forums.networksolutions.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

BTW, I started a Brand New Google Analytics tracking account and put the NEW UA-xxxx-xx number in the admin
panel of my store. Now this message is showing:

Tracking Not Installed (Last checked: Sep 15, 2008 10:29:55 AM Please wait one minute before checking again. )
The Google Analytics tracking code has not been detected on your website's home page. For Analytics to function, you or your web administrator must add the code to each page of your website.

Do I have to add the code somewhere?

You don't have to add anything. Just go to a page on your site and select to view the source code. You can verify that the code is setup there.

I have also noticed that when verifying the tracking code through Google, they do not recognize this code until up to 24 hours after you click verify. So as long as you have it setup and it is displaying on your site, it should show up when you check tomorrow.

I noticed in the post that we should be adding the code for all our custom pages we create. Should we be adding the code to those custom pages we create or will these pages be generated with the code for us?

I did check one of my custom pages and the analytics code was listed but I also noticed that this code was listed under it:

CODE
<script src="https://checkout.google.com/files/digital/ga_post.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
  <input type="hidden" name="ctl00$googleAnalytics$analyticsData" id="ctl00_googleAnalytics_analyticsData" />

  <script type="text/javascript">
    URCHINFIELD = "ctl00_googleAnalytics_analyticsData";
    MC.getElementById(URCHINFIELD).value = getUrchinFieldValue();
  </script>

Is the Urchin code something left over from the old cart which got migrated over and never updated or removed?

When I was referring to Custom Pages, I was not referring to custom pages generated by the Cart. I was referring to custom pages that you may create outside of the cart.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up I appreciate it.

I just saw a jump today in my reporting which now seems to be recording correctly.

The code referenced here is specifically used for Google Checkout and Google Analytics combined.
