Anyone know how to change the description of your website being used in Yahoo Search? The description of my site in Yahoo Search appears to be defaulting to my description I submitted in the Yahoo Directory. I can't tell if this is hurting my ranking but it's frustrating not being able to figure out how to get it changed. Any help is appreciated.

If you've submitted to the Y directory, that will be the description they use. I've tried to search for info on getting mine changed years ago with no luck. You can try submitting your site again, but I have a feeling it will have little impact.

I show your description in Yahoo Directory as ... "Online store that sells premium steak and pork selections."

Then I show your description in Yahoo Search as ... "Block & Cleaver Online Steak Company is the place to buy steak online. Our steaks are hand cut the same day they are shipped. Buy steak online that is wet ... "

Maybe you changed it already? The description will use the meta description you put in within your admin panel. (which is what i's doing now) The description for the yahoo directory, if I'm not mistaken, is what was used when you submitted it.

If you don't use a meta description in the admin panel ( Operations > Settings > SEO tab ) Yahoo would use content from your home page.

Thanks Martini & Ag. I've read your posts from other topics and appreciate your posts.

I do have all my meta descriptions populated which are being used in Google searches but dont appear in Yahoo searches when I search for some of my keywords I am targeting. I did resubmit my site just before initially posting this so I will respond back if that changes anything.

You shouldn't have to re-submit your site. Once it's indexed you should be good. You'll just have to wait for the Yahoo SLURP Crawler to recrawl your site. It should pick up any new meta's you've added since.

Sometimes it is an issue - I've been waiting for years for it to change. Sad but true.
