I am just starting out here, but have a lot of experience with blog software.

I am hoping it is possible to upload an existing blog to this new host site. I know changes must be made in wp-config.php, but beyond that, is there more that has to be done? WP has a ton of files, and I don't know how many of those might be needing tweaks to get the blog to run here.

Thanks.

Hi dlrh,

All you should have to do is upload all the files in that directory to your web hosting environment. Then in the wp-config file you need to set the database options up for the netsol hosting db you setup in the account manager for wordpress.

Finally you would then copy the old database data into the new one setup in the previous step. Other than this the only thing else that you would have to change is the domain name in the db on table wp_options if your domain name is different. If your domain name is the same you don't have to do this step.

is this a valid step as well?

1. installing a wordpress blog using netsol's open source library
2. copying your wp-content from old host to your domain.com/blog page.
3. making sure domain is pointed to correct directory.

Hi promking,

You could do that but you would still need to back up the database on the old host as well. The reason is that all of the blog posts, comments and users are on that DB.
